• Attitude: Who are you being?  Be sure you hold a great perspective before you interact in any way with prospective clients.  Think about how much you love coaching and how fulfilling it is for you to do this work.  Ground yourself in those feeling and share your inner light.  It’s incredibly attractive.

  • Niche: Who is your tribe?  It’s imperative that you figure out who your ideal client is as quickly as possible.  If you continue to consider yourself the generic Life Coach, no one will be able to refer clients to you because they won’t know who to send you.   Usually, your niche is YOU.  In other words, who have you been and what have you done in life; those experiences point to your purpose and passion.

  • Marketing Message: Here’s the formula – What challenges are your ideal clients facing?  Next, describe the ideal outcome for that client.  Then describe how you move your clients from where they are now to where they want to be.  Have some great testimonials and a biography that let’s the prospective clients know you more personally.  Whether you put together a marketing letter or a website, use the formula.

  • Marketing Plan: How will you reach out?  Pick three ways of marketing that you will enjoy and stick with them.  Think about how you can educate prospective clients about their main focus.  It doesn’t matter whether you write a Blog, use Social Media, give Speeches, or use any of the myriad ways to reach out.  What matters is consistency.

  • Charging:  How much is right for your niche?  Do your homework and figure out a comfortable fee for your clients to pay you.  It should be an amount they can afford within their monthly budget.  This takes some research as well as trial and error.  Get clear and comfortable with your fee.  You can have two price points.  For example, you can charge $300 for three sessions or $225 for two sessions a month.   This enables you to come down a bit in price without giving away your time.

  • Complimentary Session:  Offer to do a sample session or consultation to see if you are a good fit and become proficient at both the science and art of that initial meeting.  Practice, practice, practice.  If the person is in your tribe, you should easily be converting him/her into a paying client.  Remember while the client is evaluating you as a coach, you are also evaluating this person as a client.  If you don’t fall in love during that initial meeting, offer to find a couple other coaches who might be a better fit.

  • Partnering: Who has the same niche but offers a different service?  Look around for other professionals that you may get referrals from and build strong relationships with them.  This synergy can really build your practice quickly as you can make it a win/win/win.  These can also be people who you create a workshop with or find other ways to work together and reach your mutual clients.

  • Other Coaches: Yes, Really!  Connect with others in your network that have a completely different niche and refer to each other.  We often have the strongest relationships with coaches so why not help each other out and create a referral network.  If you keep the relationships clean and clear, this works great.  This, of course, requires an abundant perspective and a generous heart.  Allow me to remind you of the fact that there are close to 7 BILLION people on the planet.  ‘Nuff said.

  • Influencers:  Those magic people who love to connect like-minded folks.  Cultivate relationships with individuals who have the natural talent of connection.  Sometimes referred to as people brokers.  If you have a need, these individuals know who can help you with that.  Make time regularly to connect with your Influencers and also follow up any referrals with a thank you note and/or small gift.

  • Accountability Partner: Who are you accountable to?  All these ideas are lovely but if you don’t take action you will not experience results.  Find someone who will work with you to genuinely be yourself while taking the actions necessary to attract clients.  They should also help you overcome your Saboteurs, limiting beliefs, and old stories, as these are generally the real dream killers.  Know any good coaches?  Approach that person and get on your way.  Today is your day!
